increasing on handicap accessibility and making the space more favourable to
hall renters.Photo by chris marchand A local landmark has seen a bit of sprucing
up over the summer months. Built in 1925 to serve dryden's 104 yearold fraternal
organization, golden star masonic lodge 484 has seen significant upgrades to its
washrooms, handicap accessibility and outdoor aesthetics. Both mens' and ladies'
main floor washrooms were gutted and replaced.Two entirely new men's and ladies'
handicapped washrooms were added to the building. Funded solely by the
membership, many improvements, like a new entrance on the southern wall of the
building were made to conform with provincial barrierfree access standards.The
changes also raise the building's capacity for events to over 100 persons.
"We're hoping Bridesmaid
Dresses to improve access for some of our members and their family
to come out to lodge functions,"Said golden star lodge building committee member
colin mcfayden. "One of the benefits is that we might be able to serve a larger
and more diverse group of people in dryden.The building has had facelifts
before, but we're taking a step forward to make it more modern.We're also
definitely looking to increase our hall rentals. " Passersby may have noticed
some unique aesthetic upgrades customdesigned sandblasted windows and a
wroughtiron railing, each handmade by crafty local masons. "There's a lot of
custom touches that we've done ourselves,"Said mcfayden. "The hand railing
outside the entrance was made by rex vahovick.Using his own blacksmith forge, he
twisted every piece of metal there. " Further renovation plans within the next
five years include reinstating the building's windows and promptprocessservice.com
upgrading the building's kitchen space. In an effort to secure steady renters in
the hall space, mcfayden says a small office space could be developed to rent to
